A man in his 50s is suspected to be the latest victim of a road fatality following an accident in Davuilevu this morning.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Mitieli Divuana, the Director of Traffic, reported that the man was driving home after finishing his night shift when he reportedly lost control of his vehicle, leading it to crash into a post.
Emergency personnel from the National Fire Authority and Police responded to the scene, and the victim was rushed to receive medical attention, but unfortunately, he was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital.
SSP Divuana stated that a post-mortem examination will be carried out to determine the exact cause of death.
The national road death toll currently stands at 40, a decrease from 63 fatalities during the same period last year.
