A man in his 50s is reported to be the latest road fatality in the country following an accident this morning in Davuilevu.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Mitieli Divuana, the Director of Traffic, stated that the victim was returning home after finishing his night shift when he is thought to have lost control of his vehicle. The car veered off the road and crashed into a post.
Emergency responders from the National Fire Authority and Police arrived at the scene, and the victim was quickly transported for medical care, but he was sadly pronounced dead upon arrival.
SSP Divuana mentioned that a post-mortem examination will be carried out to determine the cause of death.
Currently, the national road death toll stands at 40, a decrease from 63 for the same period last year.
