A man in his 50s is suspected to be the latest road traffic fatality in the country following an incident in Davuilevu this morning.

The Director of Traffic, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Mitieli Divuana, reported that the man was driving home after finishing his night shift when he appears to have lost control of his vehicle. The vehicle then went off the road and collided with a post.

Emergency responders from the National Fire Authority and the Police arrived at the scene, where the victim was immediately taken for medical assistance but was sadly pronounced dead upon arrival.

SSP Divuana indicated that a post-mortem examination will be carried out to determine the exact cause of death.

Currently, the national road death toll stands at 40, a decrease from 63 recorded during the same period last year.
