A man in his fifties has reportedly become the latest road fatality in the country following an accident in Davuilevu this morning.
Senior Superintendent of Police Mitieli Divuana, the Director of Traffic, stated that the victim was driving home after finishing his night shift when he is believed to have lost control of his vehicle. The car veered off the road and crashed into a post.
Emergency personnel from the National Fire Authority and the Police arrived at the scene, and the victim was quickly transported for medical attention but was sadly pronounced dead upon arrival.
SSP Divuana mentioned that a post-mortem examination will be carried out to determine the exact cause of death.
Currently, the national road death toll is at 40, a decrease from 63 for the same time last year.
