A 20-year-old man from Matanagata, Tavua lost his life in a road accident on Kings Road in Naviyago, Lautoka on Saturday morning. The Director of Traffic, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Mitieli Divuana, reported that the victim was one of three passengers in a vehicle driven by a 30-year-old man. SSP Divuana indicated that the driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle, which resulted in it crashing into the railing of the Naviyago bridge and falling into the river. The victim, along with another passenger, was taken to Lautoka Aspen Hospital, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival. The current road death toll stands at 41, a decrease from 63 during the same period last year.
