A man in his 50s is suspected to be the latest victim of a road fatality following an incident in Davuilevu this morning.
According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Mitieli Divuana, the man was returning home after finishing his night shift when he reportedly lost control of his vehicle. This caused the car to veer off the road and crash into a post.
Emergency responders from the National Fire Authority and Police arrived at the scene and quickly transported the victim for medical treatment; however, he was sadly pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital.
SSP Divuana noted that a post-mortem examination will be performed to determine the exact cause of death.
Currently, the national road death toll stands at 40, a decrease from 63 fatalities during the same period last year.
