A man in his 50s is believed to be the latest victim of a road fatality in the country following a crash in Davuilevu this morning.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Mitieli Divuana, the Director of Traffic, reported that the victim was returning home after finishing his night shift when he lost control of his vehicle, causing it to veer off the road and collide with a post.
Emergency responders from the National Fire Authority and Police were present at the scene, and the victim was taken for medical care but was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital.
SSP Divuana stated that a post-mortem examination will be carried out to determine the cause of death.
Currently, the national road death toll stands at 40, a decrease from 63 fatalities during the same period last year.
