A man in his 50s is believed to be the latest road fatality in the country following an accident that occurred in Davuilevu this morning.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Mitieli Divuana, the Director of Traffic, reported that the victim was driving home after completing a night shift when he apparently lost control of his vehicle. This loss of control caused the vehicle to veer off the road and collide with a post.
Emergency responders from the National Fire Authority and the Police quickly arrived at the scene, where the victim was rushed to a medical facility but was sadly pronounced dead upon arrival.
SSP Divuana indicated that a post-mortem examination will be carried out to determine the exact cause of death.
As it stands, the national road death toll is currently at 40, showing a decrease from 63 during the same period last year.
