A man in his 50s has reportedly become the latest victim of a road fatality in Davuilevu following an accident this morning.
According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Mitieli Divuana, the man was returning home after completing his night shift when he allegedly lost control of his vehicle, causing it to veer off the road and crash into a post.
Emergency responders from the National Fire Authority and the Police arrived at the scene, but the victim was pronounced dead upon arrival at the medical facility.
SSP Divuana confirmed that a post-mortem will be carried out to determine the exact cause of death.
So far this year, the national road death toll stands at 40, a decrease from 63 fatalities during the same period last year.
