A man in his 50s tragically lost his life in a car accident while returning home after completing a night shift. Reports indicate that he lost control of his vehicle, causing it to veer off the road and crash into a post. The incident took place in Davuilevu, Nausori, early this morning.
SSP Mitieli Divuana, the Director of Traffic, confirmed that both the National Fire Authority and police responded to the scene and transported the victim for medical treatment, but he was pronounced dead upon arrival. A post-mortem examination is expected to be conducted soon.
As of now, the national road death toll stands at 40, a decrease compared to 63 fatalities reported during the same period last year.
