A man in his 50s tragically lost his life in an accident while returning home after completing a night shift. The incident took place this morning in Davuilevu, Nausori, where it is reported that the man lost control of his vehicle, causing it to veer off the road and collide with a post.
Traffic Director, SSP Mitieli Divuana, confirmed that personnel from the National Fire Authority and the Police responded to the scene, quickly transporting the victim for medical assistance; however, he was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital. SSP Divuana also mentioned that a post-mortem examination will be conducted in the near future.
As of now, the national road death toll stands at 40, a decrease from the 63 fatalities recorded during the same period last year.
