A man in his 50s has tragically died in an accident while returning home after completing a night shift. Reports suggest that he lost control of his vehicle in Davuilevu, Nausori, causing it to veer off the road and crash into a post early this morning.
Director of Traffic, SSP Mitieli Divuana, confirmed that emergency services from the National Fire Authority and Police responded promptly to the scene and transported the man for medical assistance; however, he was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital.
A post-mortem examination is expected to take place shortly. The current national road death toll stands at 40, a decrease compared to 63 fatalities recorded during the same period last year.
