A 19-year-old woman tragically lost her life in a road accident in Lautoka early yesterday morning. Police report that she was one of four passengers in a vehicle being driven by a 24-year-old along Queens Road near Navutu.
It is claimed that the driver lost control, resulting in the vehicle crashing into a post after veering off the road. The young woman died at the scene, while the driver and the other three passengers were taken to Lautoka Aspen Hospital, where they are in serious condition.
This incident has raised the national road death toll to 42, compared to 63 fatalities for the same period last year.
