A tragic motor vehicle accident in Nasinu this morning has claimed the life of a man in his 30s. The incident occurred shortly after 3 AM near the Nasinu road junction, as confirmed by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Mitieli Divuana, the Director of Traffic.
According to reports, the victim was driving towards Suva when his vehicle collided with another car, driven by a man also in his 30s, who was traveling in the opposite direction. Emergency services quickly transported the victim to the Colonial War Memorial Hospital; however, he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
SSP Divuana has indicated that investigations are ongoing to ascertain the details surrounding this unfortunate incident. It’s worth noting that the current road death toll stands at 46, which shows a decrease compared to the 68 fatalities recorded during this same period last year.
While this event is deeply saddening, it highlights the importance of road safety and vigilance while driving. Efforts to reduce the number of road incidents continue, aiming to create safer conditions for all road users.
