A father in Nayawa, Sigatoka, is mourning the loss of his son, Ravneel Lal, who tragically passed away at the age of 22 in a car accident on Navula Valley Road in Nadroga. The incident occurred on Sunday afternoon when the vehicle, driven by another 22-year-old, lost control and rolled over multiple times.

Rohit Lal, 50, shared his heartbreak, stating, “I will have to face the world without him.” He reminisced about Ravneel’s passion for cars, noting how he had invested in upgrading his vehicle in preparation for car shows. Ravneel was a car enthusiast from an early age, inspired by his grandfather, who owns the David Driving School.

According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Mitieli Divuana, the accident resulted in Ravneel being ejected from the vehicle, leading to fatal injuries. Following the incident, the other passengers and the driver were taken to Sigatoka Hospital for treatment, and investigations into the crash are ongoing.

SSP Divuana emphasized the importance of safe driving practices, highlighting that attitude plays a crucial role in road safety. He urged all road users to take advisories seriously, as neglecting safety can lead to tragic outcomes.

Despite the sorrow in this incident, it’s worth noting that the national road death toll currently stands at 55, which is a significant decrease from 74 fatalities during the same period last year. This reduction suggests that safety campaigns and increased awareness may be having a positive impact.

As communities reflect on such tragedies, it becomes a reminder of the importance of road safety and responsible driving. May Ravneel’s memory inspire others to prioritize safe driving practices to prevent future loss of life.
