Tragic Loss: Renowned Chef Lance Seeto Found Dead in Suva

Police are investigating the death of prominent chef and director of Kanu Gastropub, Lance Seeto, who was found unresponsive with apparent head injuries in his Suva apartment on Clarke Street. The 60-year-old was discovered by a staff member from Kanu Gastropub around 9:21 AM after he did not respond to calls since the previous Friday. Authorities remained on the scene throughout the day to carry out their investigation.

As they await post-mortem results to ascertain the cause of death, social media has seen an outpouring of condolences in response to the shocking news. Div Damodar from the Div Damodar Group of Companies expressed his sorrow, describing Seeto as a kind and joyful person who had a profound impact on many in Fiji, highlighting that he would be remembered as a brother.

The Facebook page for Fiji Chefs also honored Seeto, calling him a legendary chef who dedicated his life to advancing Fijian gastronomy. They emphasized his significant contributions to training and developing some of Fiji’s finest chefs, helping to elevate the country’s culinary reputation.

Furthermore, the German Embassy in Suva offered its condolences, reflecting on Chef Seeto’s critical role in creating memorable events through his exceptional catering, including during the visit of German Federal Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock to Fiji earlier this year.
