Prominent radio announcer Maikeli Radua tragically passed away yesterday in a car accident on Ratu Dovi Road in Nadera. The 50-year-old reportedly lost control of his vehicle while driving towards Suva, leading to a veer off the road. Emergency responders rushed him to Valelevu Health Center, but despite efforts to save him, he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

This incident comes in light of ongoing concerns about road safety in Fiji, where previous accidents have claimed lives and sparked discussions on the necessity for responsible driving. Just recently, another fatal accident involved two young individuals, adding to the alarming road death toll, which currently stands at 61, a slight reduction compared to the same period last year.

The community is encouraged to reflect on these incidents and advocate for safer driving practices. Increased awareness and collective responsibility on the roads are paramount to prevent such tragedies from occurring again.

In remembering Maikeli Radua, the hope is that his legacy inspires others to prioritize safety while driving, fostering a community where road safety is a shared value.
