A one-year-old child tragically lost their life in a road accident in Naitonitoni, Navua yesterday.
According to Senior Superintendent of Police Mitieli Divuana, the child was with a parent and a sibling when they allegedly left home unnoticed and walked onto the road, where they were struck by a vehicle driven by a 23-year-old man.
The driver immediately transported the child to Navua Hospital, but unfortunately, the child was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Authorities are currently investigating the incident, including examining potential negligence. SSP Divuana urged parents and guardians to be especially vigilant in supervising young children, as accidents can happen in an instant.
