Tragic Loss: Navua Football Community Mourns Sikeli Nawaqa

The Navua Football Association is in mourning following the tragic death of former player Sikeli Nawaqa, who passed away in a road accident in Perth, Western Australia, on Sunday.

At the age of 39, Nawaqa, a native of Calia, Navua, had a long history of representing the district before relocating to Australia for employment at a farm. He also played for Vashist Muni College in secondary school competitions.

Rajeev Prasad, the President of Navua, praised Nawaqa as an exceptional footballer with a humble spirit and a warm personality. “He was beloved by all and had strong ties with the Indo-Fijian community in Calia,” he noted.

Prasad extended heartfelt condolences to Nawaqa’s family, specifically his uncle Inoke Nawaqa, expressing wishes for strength during this difficult time. “You will always be our Navua hero, Sikeli. Rest high in the arms of the mighty Lord,” he added.

Nawaqa leaves behind his wife and four children, and funeral arrangements are currently in place.
