Police are currently investigating the untimely death of Lance Seeto, a celebrated chef and director of Kanu Gastropub, who was found unresponsive with noticeable head injuries in the bathroom of his Suva apartment. The discovery was made on Thursday after a staff member from Kanu Gastropub went to check on him at around 9:21 AM, having not heard from him since the previous Friday.
The police remained at the scene throughout the afternoon as they conducted their investigation, waiting for post-mortem results to ascertain the exact cause of death. In the wake of this shocking event, there has been an outpouring of condolences across social media platforms.
Div Damodar from the Div Damodar Group of Companies expressed his sorrow, recalling Mr. Seeto as a kind-hearted and joyful individual who had a significant positive impact on many lives in Fiji. He emphasized that Seeto’s memory will live on, describing him as a brother to many.
The Fiji Chefs Facebook page also paid tribute, honoring him as a legendary chef who dedicated his life to enhancing Fijian gastronomy. They recognized his contributions to training and developing some of Fiji’s most distinguished chefs, which has led to the elevation of Fijian cuisine to new heights.
Furthermore, the German Embassy in Suva extended its condolences, noting the chef’s significant contribution to their events, particularly during the recent visit of German Federal Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock to Fiji from May 5 to 7, where his exceptional catering left a lasting impression.
