A 25-year-old man has been charged with the murder of his 59-year-old grandmother in Naitonitoni, Navua, which occurred in June. According to Assistant Commissioner of Police for Crime (ACP) Mesake Waqa, the suspect was arrested on June 25, 2024, and subsequently taken to Saint Giles Hospital for psychiatric evaluation. He was released back into police custody on August 6, 2024. Following questioning, legal advice was obtained from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, leading to the murder charge. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Navua Magistrates Court today.
