A 19-year-old woman has lost her life, and four others have been hospitalized following a road accident in Lautoka during the early hours of the morning.
According to police reports, the deceased was one of four passengers in a vehicle operated by a 24-year-old driver. The accident occurred on Queens Road near Navutu when the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle, causing it to veer off the road and crash into a post.
Officials stated that the woman died at the scene, while the driver and three passengers were taken to Lautoka Aspen Hospital, where they remain in serious condition.
Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
Currently, the national road death toll is at 42, a decrease from 63 for the same period last year.
