Tragic Drowning: Recovery of 5-Year-Old Sparks Safety Call to Parents

The body of a 5-year-old boy who drowned in Waidra, Baulevu, near the Rewa River has been recovered this morning. Senior Superintendent of Police Joape Cakacaka, the Divisional Police Commander for the Eastern Division, confirmed that the child was swimming when the tragic incident occurred.

The Fiji Police Force has urged all parents to keep a close watch on their children, particularly with the cyclone season and school holidays fast approaching. Officials have also expressed their appreciation to the Goneturaga na Vunivalu of Kasavu and surrounding communities for their assistance during the search efforts.
