A tragic incident occurred in Burelevu village, Ra, where a three-year-old boy is believed to have drowned in the Wainibuka River. The police reported that the heartbreaking event took place yesterday afternoon when the young child reportedly sneaked out of his home to swim in the river.

Once the family realized the boy was missing, they promptly alerted the villagers. A search party was organized, which ultimately led to the discovery of the boy’s body along the riverbank. His relatives transported the body to Wainimaro Hospital for further arrangements.

Authorities have announced that an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the drowning is currently underway. This incident serves as a somber reminder of the need for heightened vigilance regarding children’s safety around water bodies, particularly during recreational activities.
