Tragic Drowning: Community Unites in Recovery Efforts

The body of a 5-year-old boy who drowned in Waidra, Baulevu, along the Rewa River has been recovered this morning. Senior Superintendent of Police Joape Cakacaka, the Divisional Police Commander for the Eastern region, confirmed that the boy was swimming at the time of the incident.

In light of this tragedy, the Fiji Police Force is reminding parents to closely supervise their children, particularly with the cyclone season and school holidays approaching. The police also expressed their gratitude to the Goneturaga na Vunivalu of Kasavu and local communities for their assistance in the search efforts.
