The body of a 5-year-old boy who drowned in Waidra, Baulevu, along the Rewa River has been recovered this morning.
Senior Superintendent of Police Joape Cakacaka, the Divisional Police Commander for the Eastern Division, confirmed that the boy was swimming when the tragic incident took place.
The Fiji Police Force is urging all parents to closely supervise their children, particularly with the cyclone season and school holidays on the horizon.
They also expressed their gratitude to the Goneturaga na Vunivalu of Kasavu and the nearby communities for their assistance in the search efforts.
