Tragic Drowning: A Boy’s Last Swim Sparks Urgent Safety Call

A tragic incident occurred in Waidra, Baulevu, where a 5-year-old boy drowned in the Rewa River yesterday. His body was found this morning. Senior Superintendent of Police Joape Cakacaka, the Divisional Police Commander Eastern, reported that the boy was swimming when the accident took place. He urged parents to closely monitor their children, especially with the cyclone season approaching and the school holidays on the horizon. SSP Cakacaka also expressed gratitude to the Goneturaga na Vunivalu of Kasavu and the local communities for their efforts in locating the boy’s body.
