A tragic vehicle accident has claimed the life of a 15-year-old male student, marking him as the latest road casualty. The incident occurred yesterday afternoon when the student was traveling with seven other peers from the Nausori Highlands to Nadi.
Preliminary reports indicate that the driver lost control of the vehicle while navigating a downhill stretch, resulting in the vehicle overturning. The force of the crash sent all passengers tumbling out before the vehicle fell approximately 100 meters down a cliff.
Emergency services responded promptly, transporting all injured individuals to Nadi Hospital. Unfortunately, despite efforts to save him, the 15-year-old was pronounced dead upon arrival. Three other passengers are currently hospitalized in stable condition, while the remaining occupants, including the driver, received treatment and were later discharged.
Authorities are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding this devastating crash, which highlights ongoing concerns regarding road safety in the region.
