A woman in her mid-20s was discovered dead in a residence in Raiwaqa, Suva, early yesterday morning. Authorities report that the victim likely sustained severe injuries inflicted by her partner, who fled the scene and was subsequently evading law enforcement for much of the day.

The police indicated that the two were involved in a heated argument, during which the suspect allegedly used an object to harm the victim, leading to her death. Evidence gathered at the location on Albert Lee Place confirmed that she was a university student.

Employees from a nearby taxi service, Duavata Taxis, expressed their shock over the disturbing event at the property. Assistant Commissioner of Police Crime, Mesake Waqa, noted that several individuals have been interrogated as part of the investigation.

“Initial investigations have been completed, and we are now questioning witnesses; I think around three people so far,” said Mr. Waqa, who refrained from sharing details about the status of the suspect’s apprehension.
