The body of a 5-year-old girl, who was swept away by powerful currents while crossing the Waisomo River, has been found. The tragic event occurred when she and seven other children, accompanied by her 32-year-old aunt, attempted to cross the river after gathering edible lady ferns.
Local authorities were alerted about the incident by the Turaga ni koro of Naituvatuvavatu village. The child’s body has since been taken to Korovou Hospital, where it is awaiting a post-mortem examination.
