A tragic motor vehicle accident in Nasinu this morning has resulted in the death of a man in his 30s. According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Mitieli Divuana, the collision took place near the Nasinu road junction shortly after 3 AM.
The victim was en route to Suva when a vehicle, also driven by a man in his 30s traveling in the opposite direction, collided with his car. Emergency services quickly transported the victim to the Colonial War Memorial Hospital, but he was sadly pronounced dead upon arrival.
The traffic department is actively investigating the incident to uncover the details surrounding the crash.
Despite the devastation of this incident, it is worth noting that the road death toll has decreased this year, currently at 46 compared to 68 deaths during the same timeframe last year, reflecting ongoing efforts to improve road safety and awareness.
