A tragic road accident near Seaqaqa last night led to the deaths of two individuals, a man in his 40s and a one-year-old child. The incident occurred when the man, driving along the Labasa-Nabouwalu highway, attempted to overtake another vehicle, resulting in a head-on collision with an oncoming car.
Emergency services rushed the one-year-old, who suffered serious injuries, to the Seaqaqa Health Centre, where he was sadly pronounced dead upon arrival. The male victim also lost his life in this devastating crash, and three other passengers traveling with them sustained injuries and are currently receiving treatment at Labasa Hospital.
This tragic incident has raised concerns around road safety, especially considering that the current national road death toll stands at 10, a notable decrease compared to 17 during the same period last year.
