An 80-year-old man tragically lost his life in a car accident in Wainadoi, Navua, following a collision between two vehicles. The incident unfolded when both drivers attempted to overtake at the same time, leading to their vehicles veering off the road and landing in a ditch.
The deceased, a resident of Suva, was quickly transported to Navua Hospital, but unfortunately, he was pronounced dead upon arrival. The other driver involved in the crash is reported to be in stable condition.
As a sobering reminder of road safety, the national road death toll has reached 48 this year, a significant decrease compared to 78 during the same period last year.
