A man in his 30s tragically lost his life in a motor vehicle accident this morning in Nasinu. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Mitieli Divuana, the Director of Traffic, reported that the collision occurred near the Nasinu road junction shortly after 3 AM.
The victim was traveling towards Suva when his vehicle was reportedly struck by another car driven by a man in the same age group, who was coming from the opposite direction. Emergency services promptly transported the victim to the Colonial War Memorial Hospital, where he was sadly pronounced dead upon arrival.
The Traffic Director emphasized that investigations are underway to uncover the details surrounding this incident. Despite the sorrowful loss of life, data shows that the current road death toll stands at 46, a notable decrease compared to 68 fatalities during the same period last year.
This tragedy highlights the need for continued awareness and education around road safety, with hopes that effective measures can further reduce road accidents and save lives in the future.
