A man in his 30s tragically lost his life in a motor vehicle accident in Nasinu early this morning. The incident occurred near the Nasinu road junction around 3 am, as confirmed by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Mitieli Divuana, the Director of Traffic.
The victim was traveling towards Suva when another vehicle, also driven by a man in his 30s heading in the opposite direction, collided with his car. Emergency services promptly transported the victim to the Colonial War Memorial Hospital, where he was unfortunately pronounced dead upon arrival.
As authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash, the current road death toll stands at 46, a significant decrease compared to 68 fatalities reported at the same time last year.
This reduction in road fatalities highlights ongoing efforts to enhance road safety, reminding the public about the importance of careful driving. It’s a tragic reminder of the fragility of life and the need for vigilance on the roads, as families and communities mourn the loss of loved ones.
