A tragic accident occurred on Valley Road in Sigatoka yesterday, resulting in the death of a man who was a passenger in a vehicle. Senior Superintendent of Police Mitieli Divuana, the Director of Traffic, reported that the vehicle, driven by a 22-year-old, lost control and rolled multiple times near Navula during the afternoon.

SSP Divuana emphasized the critical importance of road safety, stating, “It’s all about attitude and this applies to all road users. If you continue to take advisories and road safety lightly then accidents are bound to happen, resulting in serious injury or loss of life.” He urged all drivers to reconsider their behaviors behind the wheel to prevent further tragedies.

Currently, the national road death toll stands at 55, showing a decline from 74 fatalities during the same period last year. This statistic highlights the potential for improved safety measures and public awareness to positively impact road conditions.

In light of this incident, it is crucial for drivers to take proactive steps toward safer driving practices. By fostering a culture of responsible behavior on the roads, we can aspire to reduce accidents and save lives.

This unfortunate event serves as a reminder of the continuous need for vigilance and adherence to road safety guidelines. With heightened awareness and a collective effort toward safety, there is hope for a future with fewer accidents and fatalities on the roads.
