A 20-year-old man from Matanagata, Tavua tragically lost his life in a road accident along the Kings Road in Naviyago, Lautoka on Saturday morning. According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Mitieli Divuana, the victim was one of three passengers in a vehicle driven by a 30-year-old man. SSP Divuana reported that the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle, which collided with the railing of the Naviyago bridge and fell into the river. The victim and another passenger were taken to Lautoka Aspen Hospital, where the young man was declared dead upon arrival. The current road death toll stands at 41, a decrease from 63 during the same period last year.
