Tragic Accident Claims Young Life in Nadi

A tragic incident occurred yesterday when a 12-year-old student from Sabeto, Nadi, lost his life after being ejected from a moving vehicle. Reports indicate that the boy was traveling with several other youths in the back of a carrier along Natadola when he was thrown out after the vehicle hit potholes, resulting in a fall onto the tarseal road.

Emergency services rushed the student to Sigatoka Hospital; however, despite efforts, he later succumbed to his injuries. Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations (ACPO) Livai Driu expressed sorrow over the event, emphasizing the importance of road safety, especially during the festive season. He pointed out that despite their presence and warnings about responsible driving, such unfortunate incidents still occur due to negligence from some drivers.

The young boy’s body is currently at Sigatoka Hospital, where it is awaiting a post-mortem examination.

This incident serves as a grim reminder of the importance of safety measures and responsible driving.
