A man in his 50s is suspected to be the latest road fatality in the country after an accident in Davuilevu this morning.

Senior Superintendent of Police Mitieli Divuana, the Director of Traffic, reported that the victim was driving home after finishing his night shift when he lost control of his vehicle, causing it to go off the road and collide with a post.

Emergency responders from the National Fire Authority and Police arrived at the scene, and the victim was transported for medical treatment but was unfortunately declared dead upon arrival.

SSP Divuana mentioned that a post-mortem examination will be conducted to determine the official cause of death.

As of now, the national road death toll has reached 40, a decrease from 63 during the same period last year.
