A woman in her mid-20s was discovered dead in a residence in Raiwaqa, Suva, early yesterday morning. Police believe she suffered severe injuries inflicted by her partner, who fled the scene and spent much of the day on the run from law enforcement.
According to a police report, the two had an intense argument during which the suspect allegedly used an object to injure the victim, leading to her death. Investigators gathered information from the location of the incident at Albert Lee Place, revealing that the victim was a tertiary student.
Employees of a nearby taxi company, Duavata Taxis, expressed shock over the disturbing event. Assistant Commissioner of Police Crime Mesake Waqa confirmed that several individuals have been interviewed regarding the case.
“Initial investigations are complete, and we have started bringing people in for questioning, approximately three so far,” Mr. Waqa stated. He refrained from commenting on whether the suspect has been captured.
