A 19-year-old woman has lost her life, and four others have been taken to Lautoka Aspen Hospital following a road accident in Lautoka early this morning.
Police report that the young woman was one of four passengers in a vehicle driven by a 24-year-old man. The incident occurred on Queens Road near Navutu when the driver allegedly lost control, leading the vehicle to veer off the road and crash into a post.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver and three other passengers have been admitted to Lautoka Aspen Hospital in serious condition.
Authorities are continuing their investigation into the accident.
As of now, the national road death toll stands at 42, a decrease from 63 for the same period last year.
