Tragedy Strikes: Young Student Drowns in Mysterious River Accident

A family is grieving after the tragic drowning of their son in a swimming accident in the United States. Kaiva Francis, a 21-year-old from Wailevu in Labasa, lost his life in the Neosho River in Eastern Kansas while attending classes at Neosho County Community College.

His parents are devastated by the news. Francis had just come back to the U.S. after a two-and-a-half-month vacation in Fiji. His father, overwhelmed with grief, declined to comment when reached for a statement.

According to a press release from Neosho County Sheriff Greg Taylor, Francis was swimming with friends in the river at the time of the incident. “The victim’s body has been recovered and sent for an autopsy,” Taylor confirmed. Witnesses reported that he had jumped off the dam and became trapped in the current.
