Tragedy Strikes: Young Student Drowns in Kansas River

A family is grieving the loss of their son who drowned in a swimming incident in the United States. Kaiva Francis, a 21-year-old from Wailevu in Labasa, tragically drowned in the Neosho River in Eastern Kansas while attending Neosho County Community College. His parents are heartbroken by the news. Francis had recently returned to the US after a two-and-a-half-month vacation in Fiji. His father was too overwhelmed to make comments when reached for a statement.

Neosho County Sheriff Greg Taylor shared in a press release that Francis was swimming with friends in the river at the time of the incident. “The victim’s body has been recovered and sent for an autopsy,” he reported. Witnesses alleged that Francis jumped off a dam and was swept away by the current.
