The body of a 5-year-old girl, who tragically drowned after being swept away by strong river currents, has been recovered from the Waisomo River. The incident occurred while the girl was crossing the river alongside seven other children and her 32-year-old aunt, following an outing to gather edible lady ferns.
Authorities were notified of the situation by the Turaga ni koro (village head) of Naituvatuvavatu village. The girl’s body has since been taken to Korovou Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
