The tragic death of 21-year-old Kaiava Francis has left his family in Fiji devastated after he reportedly drowned at the Detners dam in Kansas, USA, last Saturday.
As reported by Kake Television in Wichita, Kansas, Francis was swimming with friends when he jumped from the dam and was subsequently swept away by the current at the Neosho River. His body was recovered by local authorities the same day for identification.
A close family member expressed shock at the news, stating, “When I received the news, I didn’t know how to react; I was in shock.” Francis, the second eldest of four siblings, hailed from Wailevu, Labasa, and had maternal ties to Waibasaga, Wainimala, Naitasiri.
