Tragedy Strikes: Young Fiji Native Drowns in U.S. Dam Accident

The family of 21-year-old Kaiava Francis is grieving after his tragic drowning at the Detners dam in Kansas, United States, last Saturday. Reports indicate that Francis jumped into the water while swimming with friends but was unfortunately swept away by the current of the Neosho River.

Authorities recovered his body on the same day, which was subsequently taken for identification. A family member, who preferred to remain anonymous, expressed their shock upon hearing the news.

Francis, the second of four siblings, hailed from Wailevu, Labasa, and had maternal ties to Waibasaga in Wainimala, Naitasiri.
