The tremor occurred at a depth of 57.1 km on Tuesday, according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS). Dan McGarry, a local journalist, reported that bodies were visible in the capital, and the emergency services have set up a mass casualty triage center at a hospital. The earthquake led to the destruction of buildings, collapsed bridges, and triggered landslides. McGarry stated, “People died, and many more were hurt.
