Authorities are looking into a tragic incident in Naitonitoni, Navua, where a one-year-old child died following an accident on Sunday. Senior Superintendent of Police Mitieli Divuana, who is the Director of Traffic, stated that the investigation will also focus on the possibility of negligence.
The unfortunate incident occurred when the child, who was with a parent and a sibling, reportedly left home without anyone noticing and entered the roadway, where a vehicle driven by a 23-year-old struck him. The driver immediately transported the child to Navua Hospital, but he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
SSP Divuana has urged parents and caregivers to remain vigilant while supervising young children, as accidents can happen in an instant.
