A tragic incident in Nabua has led to the death of a 14-year-old student following a road accident. The accident occurred yesterday afternoon when the victim was struck by a vehicle driven by a 54-year-old man. Reports indicate that the driver lost control of his vehicle, which collided with a bus before veering off course and hitting the boy, who was waiting at a traffic light to cross the road.

Emergency services were quick to respond, transporting the student to the Colonial War Memorial Hospital for immediate medical treatment. Unfortunately, despite their efforts, he succumbed to his injuries shortly after reaching the hospital.

Police have initiated investigations into the circumstances surrounding this incident, highlighting ongoing concerns about road safety, especially for vulnerable pedestrians such as children. This accident comes amidst a concerning trend of road mishaps in the area, including previous incidents where young victims have been seriously injured or lost their lives.

Senior Superintendent of Police Mitieli Divuana has been vocal about the pressing need for improved road safety practices. He has urged both motorists and pedestrians to exercise caution and adhere to traffic regulations. As discussions around increasing awareness and safety measures gain traction, there is hope that community efforts can lead to meaningful changes, preventing further tragedies on the roads.

This sorrowful event underscores the critical importance of vigilance among all road users to foster safer environments for everyone, particularly our youth.
