A 25-year-old man is in police custody following the tragic death of a companion at a popular night spot in Lautoka City due to alleged breathing complications. The police were notified by the suspect at around 4 AM at the Shirley Park Police Post when the individual began experiencing severe breathing difficulties. Sadly, the victim was pronounced dead upon arrival at Lautoka Aspen Medical Hospital.
Authorities have indicated that a postmortem examination will be performed to ascertain the exact cause of death. In light of the recent deaths being reported in the region, including another investigation involving an iTaukei male found deceased under suspicious circumstances just two days prior, this incident highlights the ongoing concerns regarding health and safety within the community.
